The SMA Folklore Project is featured in the most recent Spring edition of the Bishopstown Newsletter.  The SMA Folklore Project are located here in the SMA Parish Centre and create exhibitions on subjects related to history, culture and folklore. To celebrate Saint Brigid’s Day this year, the group put together an exhibition about Saint Brigid with a particular focus on the practice of making “Brideóg” dolls – effigies of Brigid, a custom that was once as popular as the making of Saint Brigid’s Crosses.

Thank you to the “Knitting for Africa” group who meet regularly here in the centre – for helping to craft the “Brideógs” that were on display in the exhibition.

And thank you also to the staff of the Bishopstown Newsletter for featuring both groups and their work.
