The picture above shows Fr. Michael in South Africa with two Mercy Sisters who came to acknowledge the support the parish offered them from our Monthly Parish Charity in August (€1,4000) while he was on a recent visit to Pretoria. One of the ladies is from Limerick and has spent 59 years working for the poor of South Africa. At the back of our church is an acknowledgment and note of appreciation for the support we so generously gave them.
October is the month when the church tries to remind us of the missionary nature of our church. Generous gestures like our support of the Sisters of Mercy, and today we reach out in support of Fr. John Kilcoyne SMA to assist him in his work in Tanzania. These are tangible reminders to us of our commitment to reaching out to the less fortunate in the wider world. We are a missionary church and it is good to demonstrate that, well done and thanks to all who supported these deserving causes.
